Shoulder pads?
When I watch games from the early 90’s on YouTube I’m staggered by the size of the shoulder pads and other bits of protection some players are wearing. I mean to the modern eye it looks like armour.
Players today don’t seem to wear anywhere near as much protection. Now we all know modern youth are soft

so it can’t be that players are tougher, so why has it dropped out of use?
I only bring it up because already we are two shoulders down (Walker and Westerman), so would it’s reintroduction help?
I really don’t know the science or the stats but from a layman’s perspective you’d think it might help?
