| Wood, Wilde, Walshaw and Annakin. We don't have four Trinity products in the first team very often but they all looked to match up to Wigan well today .Hooker is definitely Wilde's best position, I cannot see why him and Wood cannot share the duties of sub when Aiton is fit . Annakin is already a regular and desevedly so. Walshaw looked twice the player that Malloy is . Why did we waste the money on Molloy when we have Walshaw?

| Wildie looked more comfortable at number 9 and got the ball out quick while putting himself about a fair bit in def and attack. May have played himself back into the team today. Despite being the victim of Charnleys top finishing Walshaw was strong in defence and adds that size too.

Good question for "an evening with Mr Agar"
Really impressed with Walshaw's effort today, especially when the lad has been playing for a lower end CC club all season

| I agree on all counts.
Keep Wood in the halves
Play Wildie off the bench as hooker
Play Walshaw instead of Molloy

| Wildie looked pretty comfortable at 9 to me - he got the ball away quickly and made some cheap metres when they were available; I don't recall him being too leaky in defence either.
Maybe it's time for him to come off the bench for Aiton?

He did enough to ,ake me think the same.
Wood can stay in the halves too while Sykes or Smith or Smith injured are injured.......and I think I'd like to keep him there with Tim Smith in the long run.

I was less convinced by that - he did some good stuff, but his kicking was, at times, inexplicable; we don't manage games very well as it is, so a kick out on the full at a crucial period is a killer blow.

I understand what you are saying.
I prefer his tackling and running to both Sykes and Smith but they each have much better kicking and passing respectively.
I do think that with Lee Smith playing the kicking issue is less of an issue, and his running game gives a much needed directional change than just Tim Smith on his own.
I'm bound to ask, what your alternative would be?
Are you saying you wouldn't play him or you would just play him until Sykes is back?

I don't have one!
I guess my point is that I was less convinced by him than I was by Wildie; given the injury crisis and our lack of options I'd leave him there, but I would have him working really hard on simple kicks in play that help to manage a game - it's clear that he has the chip over the top in him and I like his confidence in putting them on and chasing them down, but we also need to understand when it's time for a simple touch-finder or one that bounces towards in-goal and turns the opposition around.
All may be for naught of course, if he's Shudds bound, as the rumours suggest.

I have seen Matey Wildie play loads of games over the years right from the season we signed him.
Let him run and tackle and he will not let you down. Give him the responsibility to kick and think and
you quickly see his problems.
No brainer, just develop him as an hooker and forget the scrum half option.

www.superleague.co.uk/match_report/8875 don't tell the whole story but Wildie appears to have done the job asked.
