There may be more glamorous coaches around. There may coaches with better CVs and won more trophies. There may even be coaches who play a more attractive style of rugby. But is there a coach in the world who is more suited to Wakefield Trinity at this moment in time than John Kear? I don't think there is. He had his critics last season, even a few this season, but regardless of what happens between now and September, all expecations this year have been exceeded. A lot of good things have happened off the pitch recently, but what we are seeing on it rests with one man, John Kear.

Hard to argue with that - there aren't many coaches who respond better to a backs to the wall, everybody hates us, siege mentality type scenario than Mr Kear.

Whatever happens next season, he deserves respect for what he's delivered in this one.

there is, is there not, a marked lack of comment from the wise guy Kear knockers on this board of late. Quite where they vent their sinical, know it all, bile whist kear is delivering I don't know. But I do pity their present victims. In my 30 odd years supporting the club we have not had a coach with a better pedigree than Kear - good luck and thanks to the fella

I agree, although we underperformed last season. John Kear could possibly be master-minding a stunning season.
Never have the odds been stacked so heavily against any rugby league team, but slowly the noise is getting louder.

Remember years ago Alan Hansen saying you never win owt with kids...... how wrong was he!!

He doesn't need to answer to the semi-pro "I'd do it better" coaches on here, but I'm sure he knows a Challenge Cup run is what he needs to deliver.
