| Off the back of the article about his future. What do we reckon will happen. I imagine we’re at a bit of a stalemate as Wire will rightfully so want a fee for him and I imagine we’ll be trying to broker the best deal that’s not to taxing. If the rumours a true he’s not welcome back at Wire but the way he’s playing most other SL clubs must be keeping an eye on things. Would we be willing to pay the rest of his deal off to sign him? I’m not sure we would to be fsir

| I’d be amazed if we paid a fee. I think we’ll see a game of who will blink first and it shouldn’t be us. They gave him a big contract a couple of years ago and by all accounts him and Powell aren’t best mates. They need that cap space before they can move on to other targets. We can move on whenever we like.

| The rumour is he’s one of if not the highest paid centre in the league and he doesn’t seem keen on playing for Warrington again, nor does Powell want him. They’d be stupid to jeopardise the chance of him leaving by asking for a fee.
I think he’s been a good addition to the side and want him to stay but I’m not sure he warrants being a top earner.

I think there’s a chance they’ll have to pay him up if him and Powell can’t work together. I don’t think Wigan will have him on a deal like that but if Wire want him off the cap and nobody is prepared to take his contract on, they may need to pay him off to the tune of any shortfall in his salary. I’m not not sure how these things work in terms of their salary cap mind.

| He’s shaping up to be a great signing so far in a position that traditionally we struggle to produce in this country.
To replace him with similar quality we would have to look at the NRL and use a quota spot, which pushes up his value.
He’s been one of our most effective players so far in 2023 so can command a big wage, but I think it’s highly unlikely he returns to Warrington unless they change coach and even then I think it’s unlikely.
I expect we will have to pay a nominal fee for him, but he would be worth it.

| Yeah you could see him signing for an "undisclosed" fee to save Wire's blushes so they could say they got something for him.

| King is still under contract with Wire wont they have to pay him to release him and still be penalised on cap.Best senario is Wigan keep him on loan with Wire paying some of his salary.Wire dont want him Wigan do win win situation ,by all accounts he is liking it at Wigan.

| It’s a tricky one
So King is currently on a massive salary far above what Wigan would pay a centre.
He’s only on loan as Wire are contributing to his salary.
King is due this large salary one way or another for the next 2 years. I don’t blame the lad one bit.
Initially I thought he was out of contract next year, so another 12 month loan on same circumstance would have made sense.
Unsure what will happen now.
If I’m a Warrington fan, given how well King is playing at Wigan. I’d either want him back at Wire or organise a move that he goes somewhere else and not a big rival in Wigan.
Centres is Wires worst position and King is performing a lot better than Ratchford or Ma’tautia. I wouldn’t be surprised if they signed Gildart.
But if the relationship with Powell can’t be sorted we may benefit.

If they did want him back, they probably best stop abusing him when they play us
I doubt we’ll ever find out the ins and outs of any deal for him to come here permanently but I’m confident he’ll be here in 2024 and beyond.

| I think it's a lot simpler than all the rumour-mongers are making out... King had a bit of an attitude and inertia to change after getting into a comfort zone at Warrington. Powell sent him out to a different environment to freshen him up and see how he matures in new scenery. If he develops into the style of player Powell is after then I'm sure he'll be back at Warrington. If he doesn't (irrespective of attitude) he'll probably continue to develop into the 'Steve Price-style' centre as a big and strong runner with an offload game, in which case I'd guess he'll be shipped on to whichever club pays him the most and offers the longest contract. My guess would be Huddersfield in that case, being a local lad and all.
I think far too much is being made of the King-Powell 'never the twain shall meet' rumours.

Thats exactly what he is, he's never going to be anything different.

You think wrong. When Powell came in he created a major rift in a bit of an attempt to assert dominance.
King was on one side of that rift.
