Got mixed feelings about playing Wire first game of the season.

We beat them and its 2 points clear and them playing catch up, we lose and we are having to play catch up.

Also, I am thinking our half backs wont have gelled by then for sure !

Scary.

I'm not too worried about the points, we should win enough games to make the top 4 which is all I want from the regular season really. Having said that, how we fare in this game will be a big indicator of how our season is going to go IMO. If we can beat Wire and Leeds next season we'll be very likely to win trophies

Decent friendly to start the season of friendlies before the real games start in September.

Any ideas as to the date/weekend this is due to be played? Im away in Feb and it will decide for me wether to get a ST or not. Wire is just one of three games I actually look forward to now.

In any event, I have to agree with previous posters that unfortunately it will matter not one jot beyond local bragging rights for a week or two. Console yourselves at dropping two home points as we can all set our RL 'snooze buttons' until the business end of the season.

Isn't that what it's all about these days?

It is not the first match of the season the first match is a away one and Warrington is the first home match.

Salford away?

First two weeks released by clubs:

Super League Round One (1-3 Feb): Leeds v Hull, Bradford v Wakefield, Warrington v Castleford, St Helens v Huddersfield, London Broncos v Widnes, Hull KR v Catalan Dragons, Salford v Wigan.

Super League Round Two (8-10 Feb): Wigan v Warrington, Widnes v St Helens, Castleford v Leeds, Wakefield v Hull KR, Huddersfield v London Broncos, Catalan Dragons v Salford, Hull v Bradford.

Hope we start the season in better form than last time around.
Anyone who went to the friendly at Salford knew we were underdone and needed the following week's game v Leigh as a warm up for the first team and not the U20s as was scheduled.
The first game v Hudds was dreadful. Although it was three tries each it wasn't the way to start a season.
Next season we need more than one friendly for the first team, with Wire the 2nd game in we'll need to hit the ground running.
