| Does anyone else feel that last nights game was excellent on the field but a bit of a let down off it in regards to the build up and atmosphere?
For everything that Hudds have done well over the past few years and the way they've built themselves up from the laughing stocks of the game to the current 2nd best team in the league is more than commendable. It’s just I can’t ever see them being able to generate a massive, big game atmosphere. The type of game where you’re thinking about it all week and how it’s gonna play out.
There was a real chance we could have lost last night as they are good side. Also when you look at the game and think it was 1st vs. 2nd, the best attack vs. the best defence and add in they’d already beaten us on the opening day of the season the game just wasn’t as big as it should have been.
I’d argue that if we’d have found ourselves in the same situation against Leeds, Saints, Wire or even Hull FC and Bradford the anticipation for last nights game would have just had something more to it.
Maybe I’m being over critical of Huddersfield as they do deserve a lot of credit. They’ve produced a side which is better than what other more established and so called ‘bigger teams’ are currently capable of.
Maybe my criticism should lie at the feet of the likes of Saints, Hull, Bradford and Leeds as their weaker sides are robbing the comp of some of the nail biting games we all want to see?
I just don't think Hudds will ever sit at the top table of SL.

| Not sure what you mean by this post, i thought the atmosphere last night was superb, our lads at the back were loud, you boys are always loud when you come over here, was a good game as well, better side winning on the night.
As for the top table, we've finished in the top 4 the last few years, bar winning it which only you and Leeds have done recently, what does one have to do to sit at this top table?

It was an excellent game on the field and the atmosphere was good but seeing that it was arguably the biggest game in SL this season it was, for me, just missing something.
It didn’t have the anticipation that a top of the table clash between Leeds vs Wigan, Saints vs Wigan, Warrington vs Wigan would have. It didn’t come close to the top of the table clashes we used to have with Bradford or could have with Hull either.
You’re a very good team and I don’t for one second think you don’t stand a chance of getting to Wembley or OT this year.
I just don’t think you’ll have be classed as a heavyweight side.

| I think they suffer from the stadium being too big for the crowds they generate. If they had a ground like for example the Halliwell Jones it would seem much fuller and there would be a better atmosphere. As it is it is about the same capacity as the DW and as we know anything less than 13,000 in that seems empty and souless. 10,000 is a good gate for Huddersfield and is something they could only have dreamt of a few years ago but to be considered one of the bigger clubs in SL they still have a long way to go attendance wise.

With a bit of luck it will do in the years to come, we're still a relative newcomer to the top table so it needs time to build a rivalry up, you've been playing the above teams for years at the top.
How does playing Hull and Bradford these days feel now they've dropped a little from the top?
Agree about the stadium, if we had a, say, HJ stadium then last night would have been rocking, as stated yours suffers when its half full.

| I don't think Huddersfield should be on the end of this bashing, last night was a great attendance for them, they are improving slowly off the field and massively on the field. How about teams like Wakefield and Castleford? There were no threads like this after games against them, they are pathetic clubs who show no desire to Improve on or off the field. Lower teams like those need to take a leaf out of Huddersfields book and at least make an effort.

It's a let down BUT, especially with Bradford, they were seriously big games with all the build up that you’d expect from them.
Do you really think that last night’s atmosphere and build up was what it should have been for the biggest game of the season so far?
I’m seriously not trying to knock Hudds as it’s amazing what’s been achieved at the club.

Huddersfield are a good very good team but i just think in some respects such a good team is wasted on them.

Having watched us for the last 35 years, these days are golden, we have been truly awful for 30 of them 35 years, ive stood at Fartown with 300 there, i'll take anything now
Our expectations aint as high as yours, we're getting there slowly, you've been spoiled with some fantastic teams to watch over the years, we've gone bust, had name changes, merged, been rubbing rags for 1st 4 years in SL, relegated, come back up.
Be thankful you follow the most succesful side in our game, you certainly wouldnt have stuck it out this long following us

All very fair points and I can totally understand why Huddersfield fans get miffed about the criticism they receive when they have come as far as they have, both on and off the field. I know any criticism I have is more bourne out of wanting a strong SL and wanting clubs to get 10,000+ on a regular basis, especially when they have a quality team life Huddersfield. Huddersfield are slowly getting there, it is just a pity that the Galpharm is so damn big that it still looks empty even when they get a decent crowd.

| Huddersfield are going in the right direction in pretty much every area so you can't ask anymore really.
Decades of being in the lower reaches hasn't helped them and they're rebuilding superbly well at the moment.

| Can i just ask what kind of atmosphere and build-up was missing ?
not been awkward but we go to watch the game and support our team, do you mean pre match entertainment on the pitch?
atmosphere in the stands ?
Like Gahan says for 99% of our fans - including us old 'fartowners' these are glory days to us and we've never had it better so not sure what was wrong last night.
