After the East v Miners game yesterday I realised that I didn't have any real allegiance to either side and this kind of disturbed me as I feel that I should nail my colours to one of the masts.

I'm quite embarrassed to admit that I've only ever seen both teams play once, one time it was at the Miners and one time at East but I think now is the time to make a choice.

So.....does it matter where in Leigh I come from? I'm a Wigan Roader born and bred but I have lived in Westleigh for the last 9 years.

Or.....should I just choose the team with the nicest kit?

I'm sooooo confused.

Other than "Street Of Origin" games, does it really matter Mish? - Just back the team from Leigh...whatever shirt they play in!!

That seems like a bit of a cop out though. Someone said to me that as I come from Wigan Rd I should definitely be a Miners supporter - I didn't realise that it mattered where you came from.

If this is traditionally the case, I'd like to know how and why this came about. I know things aren't the same these days but I'd like to know the origins of why Wigan Roaders supported Miners rather than East.

Go with the one that feels right, I myself played for East as a kid but now i'm older I for some reason would pick miners over them when playing each other. Keep watching them play each other and you'll soon get a preference

Like Walt Mooney has said though if they are not playing each other I want both to him

East - You know it makes sense - besides from your point of view - they are better looking Mishmash

I am the same Mish and I used to play for the Miners.

Must admit i personally have no preference, i support both teams equally Mish.

I support both but have always been a Miners fan at heart.

Besides one of my grandsons plays for the under 7's and if he does not turn out to be an England International and Leigh Centurion player he knows he may be left out of my will.

Miners are from the rough side of the track
East are from the posh side..

Both great clubs, both worthy of your support, and having been involved one way or another at them both, I personally find that East has more of a family feel, probably because everyone of their teams play from the same base camp. But that isn’t what everyone wants and by no means am I implying that Miners aren’t a ‘welcoming club’ but if its mainly more of an adult/open age or even junior section only you are looking to support them maybe Miners would be best.

Both clubs are looking for Female Players BTW.

Damn now I'm more confused than ever.

I think the only way to sort it out is to go watch them the next time they play each other and just go with the team I'm more drawn to.
