I'm still not sure how this works.

I know the Community Trust received almost £50,000 of Lottery funding and I know that they're a registered charity. I also know they arranged all the plaques under the north stand - but what else have they done and what do they currently do?

I also recall Starbug stating in a previous post that he needed the board to 'sign up' to enable the community trust to bring in all the children which leads me to believe that the 'community trust' aren't part of Leigh Centurions at all - or have I got that wrong because in the website it says they are 'affiliated' to the Centurions.

So basically, if they are part of Leigh Centurions, why aren't they bringing in all the children as has been promised by Starbug?

The community trust ( originally Leigh Centurions Community dept in its present form set up by myself and Steve Grainey in 2003 ) is a separate entity ( this was done to enable it to persue funding unavailable as a club community dept ) , therefore it requires the club to formally agree to allow it to work on behalf of the club and to support it in certain ways, the club up to this current time havent made that agreement, until they do the Community trust cannot do any ' community ' work in the schools or anywhere else on behalf of the club

A ' commitment ' from the club is required, it hasnt been forthcoming, , why it hasnt been forthcoming is down to the club, the LSV and other sports clubs have been in touch with the community trust to discuss them working on their behalfs, if the club dont want them to work on the clubs behalf it would be prefferable for them to say so, hopefully things will be resolved one way or another shortly

So just as a matter of interest, what other project have you been involved in? (Those not concerning the Centurions).

Apart from the plaques under the north stand, what other stuff have you done as the Community Trust?

The entity that is now the trust ( formerly LC community dept ) has been continually delivering programmes both into schools and with kids at the stadium classroom for every year since 2003 , to get funding you need to base these programmes on other things than just the club, ie, numeracy, literacy, social inclusion, ant racism, not forgetting summer schools

The idea being that you link these programmes to the club, unfortunatley in our area we have other RL clubs and several premiership football clubs delivering similar packages, so it comes down to what you are willing to offer as a ' closer ' at the end of these initiatives, a community dept no matter how it is structured is only another means of communication at the end of the day, but similarily the more tools you give it to work with, the more successful it will be

Also for many years the CD staff have been the ' default ' staff when something has needed organising, arranging, running, sorting out, or just helping out

Just as an update , the Leigh Community and Youth Trust will no longer be working to push the Leigh Centurions to the schools of Leigh and via summer schools and the like, the club has decided to decline using it and will now be looking to sort out something itself

I saw the plaques Lynda for the first time at the Fax game. They are excellent. All the Fax fans were looking at them. Who ever was involved with them should be very proud of their work .
