| Part of Tony Smiths post match interviews he bemoans the fact of regular short turnarounds and lack of a reserve grade for his teams scrappy performances, was the mention of short turnarounds the first hint of a move to regular Friday night games? by the club, he seems to be wanting a more settled routine for his players.

| I hadn't considered that angle of it.
The move to Friday's is obviously great for selling hospitality packages, for better atmosphere and more sales of beer but it'll also be good for the players as they have a minimum of a 6 day turnaround for the next week.

| I think it's the minimum 6 day turnaround that's driving the club in the direction of change, plus the players would get more family weekend time.

| I think this short turnaround is now being hinted at by the coach because Mr Draper has looked at the fans survey, and seen that the majority of fans are against it..
The reason Draper wants the change is for corporate reasons, nothing more nothing less..

| ATEOTD, the move (if it happens) will be down to a purely commercial decision, and not to Tony Smith's preference of days, due to physical ability/turnaround.
The days of away fans travelling in numbers to our ground in substantial numbers, are over. Visiting fans just don't come anymore.
For example,
Bradford.
At the height of "Bullmania" (for the purposes of argument, let's say 1995-2003), they filled the Railway End at Wilderspool to capacity, and had a fair sprinkling of fans dotted around the ground, too. A year later (they were reigning SL Champs), we moved to the HJ, and gaps were seen on the away terrace. The year after, more gaps. The year after(reigning SL Champs, again) yet more gaps, and dwindled year on year, until Bradford became average, and you'd be lucky that they brought 500. When they became crap, their following was pathetic.
Leeds. Since the HJ opening, a few sizeable away followings, but nowt MEGA.
Saints and Wigan. Some packed houses in the last 10 years, but not that many in recent memory.
Widnes. Depends what kind of form they're in.
The rest...laughable.
So, that leaves the Wire fans.
Mr Draper has GOT to do his homework, and get it right. I've never really heard a great clamouring of fans wanting to move to a Friday, other than those who say "Great, Friday night match, then straight into town, on the sauce", which rather alienates those with young kiddies, who find getting home at 10:30 (at the earliest) a bit of a bummer.
This decision will all be about Pounds, Shillings and Pence, rather than body recovery time (imo)

| You could well be right MikeyWire, and some good reasoning from Lefty, Mr Draper I'm sure is looking at all the angles and if research shows it's financially better that's the way he will go, no surprise it's his job, I take Smiths point on the short turnaround and his belief that settled fixtures with a longer recovery period would benefit the players and give him more quality time at training.
I have stated previously I'm in the Sunday camp but I'm fed up with all the chopping and changing and want the fixtures to be as regular as possible, unfortunately with Sky putting games on a Thursday Friday is now the logical day for the club to play, a little unfair on families with toddlers but as they get a little older it will be one of their stay up late nights.

| How about local derbies Fridays to maximise home fans (Wigan , Saints, Widnes)?
Other games Sundays to allow travelling.
As an example next Sunday at Huddersfield I expect quite a few Wires fans. The following Friday at Hull KR -practically none
I suspect its all about the corporate pound which prefers Friday

| The way to look at this, is
When do teams play their home matches, when Sky aren't in attendance
Friday
Wigan, Leeds, Saints
Saturday
Les Cats
Sunday
Us
Wids
Wakey
Cas
Salford
Hudds
either Fri or Sunday
Hull (the remainder of their home games this season are scheduled for Sunday)
Hull KR (as above)
So, he still going to get short turnarounds and then long turnarounds, as he doesn't dictate when matches a played.
It's as broad as it's long

| Interesting GHF Apart from Cas when we were at a low there is not much difference in average attendances over three different days, I'm not sure about the corporate orientated reason does the club sell more boxes and increase bar sales on a Friday night? I still think It's for a more settled fixture list.
No we haven't had a Thursday night home game as yet but have had to change some of our fixtures to accommodate other teams not to mention some Sunday games, I think that is possibly one of the main reasons to switch, who knows we may well yet stick to our few Sunday games then wait for 50% + to be changed for one reason or another, and that's what is frustrating me and many others.

All very true Lefty and all very good points, but we know that some of the Sunday games will be changed for Sky as was our game with Les Cats, those who have Friday home fixtures are not so inconvenienced, away games are out of our control, I wouldn't mind the Sunday fixtures moved to a Saturday but for sure Sky will change some of them.
In truth we have not had many Sunday home games, just Like many others I want to know where I stand with regards to the fixtures with as little disruption as possible.
