Given that the posts obviously present a hazard to players (see Amos Roberts), can anyone think of a good reason why we dont use American Football style posts in RL? Surely one hazard is better than two.

The rules of the game still have a note permitting that shape of posts.

The post is a couple of metres back from the dead ball line in that sport, the bend in the upright puts the crossbar directly over the end line in the end-zone.

No no no, we're Americanised enough already with club names, badges, mascots etc. Nowt wrong with the posts, they've always been there and should always be there IMO.
