| Quote Marc Herbert="Marc Herbert"The main difference for me is back home I was stuck on the right-hand side of the field but over here Mick (Potter) wants me to move around the field a lot more, like a traditional half.'"
That's pretty much been my assessment of Herbert. He's learning to play in a different style at half back which can't be easy.
But the interview puts him a cross as a level headed guy who wants to improve and do well.

| I don't have anything against Herbert but to me he clearly isn't a scrum half. For a start we need an organising distributor. I haven't seen Herbert pass further than 6 foot yet. He has stand off written all over him, and probably a good one at that. Play him at stand off and put Jeffries at scrum half for the rest of the season. For some reason the emphasis has been on finding a stand off when we are desperately in need of a world class scrum half.

| I haven't written off Herbert yet, he's been up against it. Coming to a new club that has been struggling and with a new coach too can't have been easy. Add to that he's not had a consistent half back partner, a pack that can't lay a platform and three quarters that can't run any angles etc I don't think he's done too bad.
I think people had some big impression that he'd come over and be a superstar. Along side a decent half back I think he'll go well.

Correct, Herbert looks more like a player that likes to run wide and link up with the outside backs..A stand off...Jeffries to play Scrum Half which is his best position IMO..

| Does anyone else think Herbert hasn't been fit? His kicking looks like he's protecting his hamstring and his speed (or lack of it) off the mark would also suggest he's struggling for accelaeration as when he gets going he's quite fast.

| It just seems like the articles we got all last year. Players and coaches saying they are working hard and will turn it around. It didnt happen and probably won't happen now.

agree, he doesnt seem confident and vocal enough to move a teamaround the park, deacon was superb at this but a lof of people dont see they this, they ecxpect creativeness etc. It would be interesting to know if Herbert has always been a kicker or just now?
