We have room on the cap, and Sydney haven't made the play offs. Did they ever change the rules, to stop players coming in especially for the play offs?

I thought our new import was as a replacement for Gilmour rather than for Talau?

I think it was mentioned that in terms of salary cap, Wheeler was in for Talau, and Soliola for Gilmour.

Although effectively Soliola is a delayed replacement for Talau, unless they decide to move him to second row.

I'm almost certain that rule got changed.

Yeah that was a bit mischievous, but I did leave off an exclamation mark; I am not a monster.

I remember it being discussed, I think when Wire brought over Andrew Johns or Morley. I cannot remember what rules if any were put in place.

I am sure you are right, they must have put some rule in, otherwise the rumour mill would have been buzzing with Saints bringing in Soliola, and other teams looking at short term options.

I think that rule was brought in to stop the Morley/Johns type signings, where a player would join a club for the play-off series only.

This would be more like what we did with Talau in '99. Whether the fact that Sia is already a Saints player from 2010 onwards would make any difference with regards to the rules I don't know.
