Think it proves we are a long way of being a regular top six team . We got a lot right with recruitment this year .But our spine is been out played to many times as soon as we come up against the bigger teams .
But the last 2 games, we've lost the game in the pack. Our usual reliable middles have been dominated twice, we've struggled to even get into the opposition half, and our completion rate has been woeful. Against Wigan, we had a completion rate of just over 50%. No matter who you've got playing in your spine, they can't do anything behind a dominated pack that couldn't make any post-contact meters. Against the Saints, we had one forward who made over 100 meters, and that was Atoni. Usually, we have 5 or 6 forwards make 100m+.
The last 2 games have just proved that Wigan and Saints have started to really turn it on at the right time, and because of all the injuries and close games, wins and losses, we're starting to feel the run in..I don't understand how it proves we are a long way off being a regular top 6 team, when we can still finish in the Top 6, in our first season back in SL? That doesn't make sense. Hull have had some poor losses this year to teams below them. What does that prove? They also have trouble winning at home. Our spine has played well against Wigan, Leigh, Leeds x2, Hull KR, Hull, etc this season and won us some close games, so I don't buy they've been outplayed against the bigger teams. Sure, against saints, especially the whole team has been rank average and they've had our number, but against everyone else, the team and whoever we've had in our halves have generally kept us in the game.
Since the Leeds game, we've just lost our way and seem to have forgotten what SL intensity is, and we've lost our level somewhat that we've been playing at. I think that break and then obviously Salford being called off has really derailed us for some reason, when we've got more of our first 17 than we have all season, it's been a bit strange tbh. Yes, we've lost, but not like the past 2 games where we haven't looked in it.
Hopefully, DP can get the boys' heads in the right place for Hudds because we need to win that and finish the rest of the season off strong. If we get into the Top 6 we want to at least give it a proper go and not just crash out with a poor performance.,
