I agree with your sentiment but, it did seem a little odd to draft a second rower in to play centre, when Reece had at least been in and around the squad and didn't let anyone down on his senior debut against France last season.
He certainly deserved a shot, before GB start putting square pegs into round holes.
Not too many people rated McNamara but, I actually think that Reece may have had a chance with him in charge.
Bennett, for all of his experience, seems like a throwback to the past ? |

Everything about the team selections on this tour seems daft, yet another reason to get Reece out of it. Feel sorry for the lad but it's a mess not of his making. |

Ultimately it's their head on the block and things haven gone so well, yet and it's their prerogative to pick who they think can do the best job for them within the dynamic of the side.
However, it still seems wrong to draft in a player that has little recent experience at centre, over a player that knows the position well AND has done ok there in his one appearance so far.
You have to feel a bit gutted for the lad, although, as Fisherman suggests, IF this is to be a tour, where GB are whitewashed, it may be better for him not to have been involved. |

You not seen Reece play recently?
Years back the lad had pace but nowadays he is more of a power player these days using his strength to gain hard yards. The 9’s imo was never going to suit Reece, his game is no longer finding a gap and sprinting the length of the pitch.
With that in mind I don’t think Bennett’s ever seen him play either.  |
