| Just seen a very positive sounding tweet from Michael Carter, on what I think would mean Newmarket.
Fingers and everything crossed.

Never a better time to get a deal than now with politicians from all parties fighting for every vote. Even Islington Mary made one in at Belle Vue last week for some photo opportunities.

| Today I have received an election leaflet from Neil Dawson,Labour candidate for Morley and Outwood.
He says 'I welcome the commitment from councillor Peter Box and Wakefield council to bring this development to a successful conclusion. It will be a huge asset to the town (City)as a mixed-use development which will include a community stadium for Wakefield Trinity'.
Is he just hoping to get votes from Trinity supporters ?.At least he got the name Wakefield Trinity correct although he called Wakefield a town.I haven't seen the Tweet from MC ,so I don't know if it is similar to what Neil Dawson has said.

His twitter bio says he's a Hunslet fan so you'd imagine he'd be supportive as a rugby fan and outside of any Cas/Wakey squabbling.

| Actions speak louder than words , always hopeful but we've been here before with positive statements. It will be hard because we are starting from a position of mistrust, it we've no other option.

| Politicians say a lot of things when they are canvassing for votes. The proof of any genuine politician is their actions on their promises after the vote has taken place.
Without being too cynical though aren't the politicians who can influence this ultimately the councillors (not subject to election this year) rather than MPs who can't directly vote on local policy in the Town Hall?

| I had a knock on the door this teatime when answered it was the labour brigade. I was asked if I was a labour voter. I replied that all my voting life I was labour but I said I was disillusioned at the moment when the gentleman then introduced me to Mary Creagh. I told her that I would never vote conservative till the day I die but I know any other vote was a protest vote and a wasted vote. The gentleman had a Wildcats top on and I said that my son was employed by Wakey and we were concerned about their and Jordan's future he replied that his grandson also played for Wakey, who was James Batchelor. I continued the ground topic where she told me the council had pencilled a £2,000,000 hand out and she has had several meetings with people concerned. But one thing she said made me think that there was something around the corner, which was that the Tories will claim the credit for everything when it was the labour people that did it. Wishful thinking I don't know, but it sounded as if she knew something all ready.

| Perhaps I'm slowing as I get older but why all the sudden interest/action from our great and glorious council leader and his merry band when for the last few years I've been reading that the council said it was 'not their problem'. Then suddenly at a council meeting a while ago the leader of the council, if I'm correct, said he'd been negotiating for months behind the scenes. I may be wrong but this all happened before an election was announced so what changed ?

As far as WMDC are concerned, I'd say they've actually taken some real legal advice and found that they could well lose any case brought by the trust and were backtracking faster than an SL ref. They chose their platform well, at a closed meeting where no-one was allowed to comment or ask questions. Has anything come of their statement?
