I was asked a question if we are relegated with the reduced funding and status, does the developer have a clause relating to the league we are in and I guess will we be able to afford the rent. The other question what would stop Castleford taking over the stadium if they are in SL. This is just a question which I am sure one of you will have the answer to.

All the more reason to get it signed off ASAP we keep hearing about all the hard work going on behind the scenes so hopefully the deal will be done soon while we are a SL club

The developer has signed a statutory agreement with the council not the club, the rent will be set by the WDCT. I'm guessing the developer probably doesn't care about what league Trinity are in as its irrelevant to them. No doubt a smaller crowd and reduced funding would increase the challenge to make it financially viable.

Castleford will never consider Newmarket, their supporters would not accept it.

So we could end up relying on the council to decide who they feel are most suitable and in a better position to pay along with the Castleford fans would never agree to the move. It was not what I expected our position is somewhat weak but if that is the situation so be it.

Regardless of all the points raised by the OP WTW would be the Anchor tenants therefore would still be playing out of Newmarket, the only reason that would change would be if WTW decided to pull out of the deal

Whilst his questions are pertinent ones there are only two or three posters on here that can turn possible positives into probable negatives!

So eloquent your teachers must be proud. I asked a question and I accepted the answer. I guess either you are either over protective or just don't understand why these questions need to be asked. I would remind you that every action taking by the board could result in various scenarios for the club including the loss of SL status which in turn will produce will produce it own scenarios.

I suppose if Wildcats won every trophy going next year Agent XIII would still be on here moaning away.

The initial size & scale of the stadium is dependant on whether we are in superleague or not. If we want the 12-15K version we HAVE to be in the top league to justify and obtain the council & grant funding (amongst other things) and income from areas like sponsorship to pay for its running costs to be maximised by having top level exposure.

Relegation will leave a scenario of at best a smaller-sized stadium or at worst no stadium at all for an awful long time. Anything we do that makes dropping out of SL more likely is a suicidal move.

It's a community stadium being built for the Wakefield community, not a SL stadium for WTW.
WTW with be the anchor tenants, there is a possibility that other sporting teams will be secondary tenants on the complex as the stadium isn't the only thing being built, there will be other sporting/training & educational facilities on the site.
