| Probably been mentioned on other threads but he has been absolutely appalling for the vast majority of the year.
Looks very unfit, rarely takes the ball up (and gets driven back when he does) and defends like he doesn't care.
What happened to the player who was eating up the metres back in 2010 and looked the best forward prospect in the competition?
None of our props have really impressed this year (maybe Clubb) but this guy has been the worst of the lot for me. Looks a shocking signing so far.

I don't see the problem. All the experts from other clubs said he was injury prone and would only play about 10 games. His stats are o.k.
Wigan don't rely on our props making big metres, but they expect them to be good defensively.
Mossop and our props do that.

| What's the actual point in signing props if they aren't gonna take the ball up?
We may as well play with 2 more second rowers, surely?

Averaging 80 metres per match
He's also averaging over 20 tackles a game or do you want to discount that fact?

Rouges I beg to differ on this emphasise on Wigan using the backs to clear the line, if as has been seen this season this reliance on the backs to clear the line as meant that a lot of times we have struggled to get to our own forty and if a bad kick comes in on the 5th it means the opposition team is on the front foot straight away.
This means that the opposition often seem to have 2/3 tackles left when they get to the Wigan 25, your props are not going to help much when the other team have the chance of swinging it wide for a couple of tackles.
Sarge this last few weeks as almost seemed to be taking the ball up a couple of times in each set when in our own half, the wingers have also done a shift as well, and in my opinion Joel less so ( Sarge does twice the work that Joel does trying to clear the line)

Bateman averaging 90 metres and 33 tackles.
Farrell averaging and 113 metres 30 tackles.
Patrick has made 60 more tackles than Mossop and probably played the same minutes so don't big up his defence like it's winning us matches.
So I'll ask again. Why don't we just play an extra 2 second rowers?

| Mossop started very brightly but recently he's gone well off the boil. He's always had the same issue IMO in that he drifts through many games and doesn't take hold of them and try to be a leader. He simply must start to take that role on IMO. He's been around the first team for 5 years or so and done a season in the NRL. He needs to stick his hand up and start setting an example by busting a gut week in week out.
Overall I'd sum his season up as typical Lee Mossop.

Go and sit down in a dark corner.
First of all none of those play for Wigan.
Second none of those could/would do the job that Mossop does.

If that is the sole expectation at Wigan for our props then we really are stuffed.
To name one example from the stats you provide, Mossop has made 182 carries to 338 from Alex Walmsley and 1200 metres to 2500 metres from Walmsley.
And regardless of tackles 'completed', do you rate Mossop as a good defender? Poor techinque and poor positioning for me. Those combined with poor fitness, a recipe for disaster.
