I will post this question again as it will probably have got lost somewhere amongst another thread.

Several weeks ago there was an ad in the League Express for a position at the club - not sure of the title now but it was something along the lines of marketing etc. I presumed this was to fill a position that allowed us to get money from the RL ? Was it ever filled - anybody confirm?

Yes it was filled.............................However, the person didn't last very long. Read into that what you will.

Unfortunatley the position the RFL are willing to fund is vitually an impossible job

It involves trying to entice business type ' investors ' to the club


In the current financial climate do they seriously expect businesses to be willing to put money into a ' hobby '

Highly unlikely that anybody will take up this position and remain in it very long

Blame the RFL for this not the club

May get shot down here but.. if the role is to TRY and get businesses to invest I would assume that the RFL would still fund the position even if unsuccesful?

If that's the case then why not fill the post?

Because Leigh being Leigh, they'll not be happy unless the money is coming in by the million.

The RFL expect the club to produce results , no results means no funds

This is to prevent a club from just using the money to fund somebody doing a different job , Leigh already had Dave Bradshaw doing similar duties but it has to pay for a new person who will bring in ' new ' revenue streams

As I said impossible job

But it allows the RFL to make statements like " each club can access 100 K in funds from the RFL this Year "

the reason was she had applied for a number of jobs, took the leigh one then moved to her prefered role when offered later, sorry its so boring no hidden meaning no conspiracy just plain old fact.

So regardless of Starbugs reasoning we HAD employed someone.

As that person has moved on why are we not employing a replacement?

The job description included stuff like getting old fans back and getting new ones in - not an impossible task is it? It sounded like a no lose situation - we employ a person to attract interest/money and the RL pay his wage

I know of a very experienced person who applied for the job and wasn't even given the courtesy of an interview. He says the communication was shocking for a prospective employer. The club know who is - why don't they give him a call.
