After your first choice team, which team will you be following and why?

Nobody except New Zealand against Australia in the final, should England not get there.

Png is the team that has taken great strides forward in all the right ways since the last WC.
Most sides have improved a bit, but only PNG are doing it by building from the ground up in PNG.

My first team is France.

So my second team is PNG.

My second team is PNG because, like France, it has a serious domestic competition and at least one professional club (France has two, Catalans and Toulouse). PNG has the additional plus of being the only nation in the world where rugby league is the national game.

My second team is Tonga mainly because I think they are the best chance of getting to the final outside of the big 3 and any new team getting to the final is always a good thing (even though we know they aren't going to).

Fiji for me, as they are legit Fijians in a group with Italy and USA, who will presumably be aussie reserves. I've got a soft spot for PNG with rugby league being the national game there but can't be supporting them against home nations.

It's a fair criticism of Italy, but isn't the USA team almost entirely made up of home-grown players?

At the last World Cup I went to a few games involving the South Sea Islands and PNG. I wouldn't pick a 'second team' as such, but I'll look out for their games.
