...and its Origin time. IF (and this thread is not about whether we should or not as thats been done to death!) we had a Roses origin, on current form what would be the teams. Here's my thoughts. I actually think if it was a genuine trial and who did well got picked it could be a great game!

The line ups are mouthwatering when you list them like that. Fielden v Hargreaves from the bench, it would make Origin look like a game of tag played by overly camp gay men.
If Yorkshire v Lancashire actually meant anything to anyone involved it would be good. But you have to imagine it with a 10,000 crowd and no more and what each lineup would be like when 5 or 6 from each side pull out 'injured'.
I'm from Warrington so naturally support Saints. Lancashire isn't something I could actively support.

I'd prefer a probables vs possibles type game with tour places genuinely up for grabs - and not for the crowd etc but as a genuine selection test. The Yorks-Lancs thing has never really worked and probably never will.

I'd love the RL to bring back roses games, but do it properly. Promote it, national TV, pay the players. Maybe do a draw for which stadia host the games. So one year it could be at St Helens, Cas and Wigan. The year after at Leeds, Warrington and Doncaster?

I think the passion for a Yorkshire side is their but Lancashire is a bit of a different matter as it is broken up a bit more now and most of the sides dont actually come from Lancashire (its more greater Manchester/Chesire/Merseyside isnt it???)
You often hear the chant 'Yorkshire, Yorkshire, Yorkshire' at games but never 'Lancashire, Lancashire, Lancashire'
This is why the concept didn't and will never work
