On here over the Terry Newton incident and the one by the Huddersfield player Brandon Costin.

They should be banned for as long as the player they attacked is injured was the cry.

Will you then be asking for the same for Cunningham?

It appears that Stosic has fractured his eye socket and cheekbone and could be out for 2 months.

What was your reaction.

Is there anything official confirming this as some Wakey fans have said this is the case, I have read another saying he has a broken jaw and another saying he could be fit for next week so I think I will wait for anything official to comment on the injury not just word of mouth on a message board.

As for the incident, he was out of order but reading some posts I think it has been blown out of proportion and would imagine he will face a 1 or 2 match ban for it.

Should be 5 games.

It was ridiculous and as said, we'd be calling for a lifetime ban.

Newton got what he deserved. I never saw the Costin incident.

I've always been against players getting banned for how long the other players injured for.

In that case what happens if a player does a very bad high shot but the player gets up and plays on?

Does he get no ban?

How bad the injury should have nothing to do with length of ban.

I'd say for punching which happens every week, between 1 and 3 games or even just a telling off.

Looking at the guidelines on sentencing, for me it'll either be Striking - Reaction to opponent - lashing out which is either an A or a B offence, Strikes with hand, arm or shoulder – reckless (which is B or C) or Strikes with hand, arm or shoulder - intentional (which is C or D).

A is a telling off
B is a telling off to 2 matches
C is 1-4 matches
D is 3-5 matches

With his previous good behaviour I think he'll get the lower end of whatever category he's put in.

Cunningham was daft and I would expect him to be in front of the RFL after it being caught so clearly on the footage. I am amazed however that he has managed to fracture someones eye socket and cheekbone with a short jab whilst on his back



Newton as you say fully got what he deserved, but I myself never understood why there was so much against Costin as I didn't think he even deserved a ban at all as it was only what we used to love Hooper for and Long came off badly due to landing awkwardly.

I haven't seen the recording yet but went to the match and although I saw Stosic injuried I didn't see what happened. There was no reprimand or putting the incident on report at the time, so I assume the RFL will check it during their review of matches.

I don't take what the Wakey fans say on their board as gospel! But even if he is injured, that shouldn't automatically mean a ban. However, if he's broken a rule then he should get whatever punishment is due even though we can't afford to lose him on the field with all the injuries we now have. I do wish he'd thought about our lack of manpower before hitting out, regardless of what Stosic might have been up to in the tackle!
