Interesting debate between Dave Woods and John Kear about the Lyon or Gidley situation.

Woods referred to the Pig Bortherer as a "legend" in many fans eyes. This is a great stretch of the imagination in my eyes. Kear pointed out that Gidley was in his eyes a better player.

But. The decision is laid bare for you. Lyon or Gidley? Who would you choose if you had to choose one.

This goes to show how spoilt we have been in the past few years for our centres.

It's like comparing a Porsche with a Jag.

Lyon, purely because of age. Very, very hard decision.

Although, i feel Lyon has a bit more pace also.

For the complete package i'd prefer Gidders/Glacier.

Lyon as good as he is has been put on this pedestal that really is a tad higher than it should be. Gidley does the hard work,better!

I think, I'd go with Gidley.

As much as I loved JL, Gidley is more of a wingers centre. If we had Gidley at the age JL was, I guess we'd all be sitting here Gidley.

9/10 they would both either score or their winger would score. Also think that Gidleys defence is better than JL.

Wow. Its hard to look past the outrageuos natural talent that Lyon had, he had more ability to do something unbelievable out of nothing.

When you sit back and look for consistant contribution, though, that's when gidders claws it back.

Lyon is on a pedelstall and tbh, in the past, I've struggled to decide who I'd rather have from his time at Saints, him or Iro. Now I've got Gidders as well - jeez we're spoilt.

Can we add Iro to the vote, please ski??

i went for gidley, purley for defensive effort. Lyon is now older and wiser, so his defence has probably improved, and he can kick too which we desperately need. Its an impossible yet brilliant choice to have to make. Would wigan pick vialeki or bailey????

i went for lyon cos of his age but it makes you think, gidly has won me over he is a great player defence and attack, i can see why lyon copied his style of play

Jamie Lyon for me, just. The only thing that JL has over Gidley is his goal kicking, oh & can also fill in at 6.

If a mod will do the honours

Gidley for now, but I'd want Lyon in the future when Gidley retires.
