| Up to press I have not joined in with the recent comments re` all the mistakes in the Courier as like all people who buy the publication I just regard it as a bit of a joke.
However I have just been reading the latest article re` the match against Swinton tomorrow night online which is mainly about our team having to watch for the "high bombs" from Holroyd.Good peice , plenty of coverage and written by James Robert who you would think would know enough about our team to get it`s name right.
Yes the headline reads Swinton v FC HALIFAX TOWN. The paper and him are fast becomeing a joke I only hope that it has not gone out to print like that.

| I have long since been a huge supporter of the Courier but it does seem to be going downhill. The Courier website is hardly updated anymore and there are numerous mistakes in each edition. As far as I know both the editor and news editor have moved on so it may well be connected to that.

Surely though Johnson Press could have recruited someone competent to do the job sufficiently, there are numerous local paper sites they run and in the past have all been pretty decent.
Courier Website hasnt been updated much at all this week, I wonder if the Council have secretly taken over

| What makes me laugh is I do buy a copy of the Courier if I am out and about and they have emblazoned on their letters page a statment saying "Read more letters online every day " but if you do try to read the letters page online they have not been changed for 2 or 3 WEEKS.If they don`t have the staff to change the web site letters page then don`t advertise it in the Courier .

| A guess is that they are cost cutting and maybe got rid of whoever was in charge of updating the website. Newspapers are struggling badly and I doubt having almost all the content from the paper online has helped their sales.

| I think that Johnson Press are planning to charge for internet access if so then the service will have to improve. Also what irritates me is when they put hyphens in words like Calder-dale and Hali-fax

Oldham Chronicle had the right idea by waiting til early afternoon before putting any articles online, whereas the courier I can read the main storys before I even get out of bed most days.
I think nationally, the days of daily local newspapers are numbered, In most city centres now the papers are free but bulked up with adverts.

I disagree. I still believe local people want to read about local news - especially the sport pages which can offer a different perspective to the official club slant on news - but they just need to adapt to the times. There is still a reasonably large audience who will buy the newspaper because they either dont have the internet or rarely have access to the web.
I would happily subscribe to a pay-to-view Courier website if realistically priced. 10p a day or something similar.
