| Tonight's Game at the Mend-a-Hose Jungle is heading for a sell-out as Castleford Tigers look to secure their first Minor Premiership of the Super League era, and top the table for the first time in their ninety-one year history.
The club have reported that there are less than 500 tickets still available for the clash with Wakefield Trinity and the RFL have confirmed that either a draw or a victory tonight would see Daryl Powell’s side being presented with the League Leaders Shield.
Excitement is high in the town as the Tigers look to secure their first major honour since wining the Challenge Cup with a 15-14 victory over Hull KR over thirty years ago. There is sure to be a decent following from Wakefield too after their big win over the Leeds Rhinos last weekend.
Coach Powell has a fully fit squad available, just at the right end of the season. He has the luxury of Junior Moors, Andy Lynch, Greg Eden and skipper Michael Shenton all returning from injury with Springer, Monaghan and Holmes all dropping out to make way for the returnees.
Chris Chester has also rung the Trinity changes after last weeks confidence boosting win over the Rhinos, which ironically gifted the Tigers the chance to seal their top placed finish tonight. Craig Huby is back from injury and replaces the injured James Hasson, while Mason Caton-Brown is recalled on the wing to replace the injured Joe Arundel with Bill Tupou switching to centre.
The bookies already think that it is all over bar the shouting as they have given Trinity a sixteen point start on the coupon. You can get odds of 4/1 on a Trinity win but backing Castleford will only get you a measly 1/6.
The rest of the rugby league world watches on as Castleford prepares to party! |
